World Premiere, Solo Recital, Masterclass, and More with the Queensland Music Festival
This month finds Edgar Meyer in Australia for four engagements with the Queensland Music Festival. The American bassist and composer kicks off his time in Brisbane with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali for the world premiere of Max Savikangas’s Double Concerto for Trumpet, Double Bass and Symphony Orchestra, written for Edgar and trumpeter James Morrison on July 17. Two days later on July 19, Edgar heads to Studio 420 for a free solo recital of works to be announced from the stage.
On July 20, Edgar gives a public masterclass at the Queensland Conservatorium, where he returns on July 21 for a performance with the Camerata of St. John’s that hears Edgar as soloist for his own Double Bass Concerto in E and Bottesini’s Bass Concerto No. 2.
