Bass & Mandolin tour concludes in Chicago
On October 17, Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile’s Bass & Mandolin tour concludes at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s home of the Chicago Symphony Center. In the days leading up to the duo’s 24-city North American tour, the pair is also heard in Madison (October 15) and Ann Arbor (October 16).
Since its launch on September 16, the Bass & Mandolin tour has earned extensive praise from audiences and critics alike. The Richmond Times-Dispatch wrote, “Meyer and Thile lit into their music with precision and — better than precision — gusto.…It was showman’s music, full of sleights-of-hand and rabbits-in-hats.” The Times Union added, “The tiny mandolin and the big double bass may look like an odd couple, but in the hands of these two virtuoso players, the music was simply magical.”
