Bass Concerto with Teddy Abrams at Chautauqua Institution
Following a successful return to the Kennedy Center for a sold-out installment of American Acoustic with Chris Thile, the Punch Brothers, Béla Fleck, and I’m With Her, Edgar Meyer heads to upstate New York for a July 14 concert at the Chautauqua Institution.
Led by the young firebrand conductor Teddy Abrams and featuring the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, the performance hears Edgar in his own Concerto for Double Bass in D. The piece is preceded by one of Abrams’s own works, Fiddling, and John Williams’s The Cowboys Overture. The all-American evening of music closes with Copland’s Symphony No. 3.
