Now Available: Bach Trios with Yo-Yo Ma and Chris Thile

Bach Trios, a collection of works by recorded by Edgar Meyer with cellist Yo-Yo Ma and mandolinist Chris Thile based on the eponymous composer’s works for keyboard instruments and viola da gamba, is now available on Nonesuch.

The project links Edgar with two of his close collaborators, having previously recorded two albums for Nonesuch with Thile, 2008’s Edgar Meyer & Chris Thile and 2014’s Grammy-winning Bass & Mandolin. He first recorded with Ma in 1996 for Appalachia Waltz, followed by 2000’s Appalachian Journey. All three musicians came together for Ma’s 2008 holiday album Songs of Joy, and then released Grammy-winning album The Goat Rodeo Sessions with Stuart Duncan in 2011.

Edgar, Yo-Yo, and Chris come together for a multi-city U.S. tour with works from the album beginning on April 21, the same day that the album is released as a two-LP vinyl set.
